“REINCARNATION” – PARIS-SALZBURG 2014/15 MÉTIERS D’ART COLLECTION

This morning Chanel awoke the world with releasing a teaser for “Reincarnation.” “Reincarnation” is part of Chanel’s latest Paris-Salzburg 2014/15 Métiers d’art collection, which will launch next week. The film will be debuted on December 1st in Salzburg, just a day before the Paris-Salzburg fashion show at the Schloss Leopoldskron. The film will also be available to view online at Chanel.com.

Direction for the film is by none other than Karl Lagerfeld who is accompanied by Pharrell Williams and Cara Delevingne on the project. Pharrell composed “CC the World” for the film. It is a duet that features Pharrell himself accompanied by Delevingne. Besides the music, Williams and Delevingne are also faces of the campaign and play roles in the film.

The film will take you back to Salzburg in 1954 where a young Gabrielle Chanel found inspiration for the iconic Chanel jacket. Geraldine Chaplin, who plays the role of Gabrielle Chanel, is at hotel in the suburbs of Salzberg in 1954 when she runs into Pharrell Williams who plays a lift-boy. The jacket that Williams is wearing in the film as a lift-boy is a remake to resemble the very jacket that is credited to be the inspiration for the iconic Chanel jacket.
Prior to 1954, I’m sure you can imagine what women were wearing. Everything was very classic, traditional feminine shapes. Pretty much anything women were wearing was very fitting to their body and shape hugging. So for Gabrielle Chanel to design such a masculine inspired piece for women was just plain and simple out of the box. Thanks to the iconic Chanel jacket, it became normal for women to wear more comfy clothing rather than silhouette constricting clothing all the time.
So I personally would just like to thank Gabrielle Chanel because without this jacket, women’s wear would never be the same. I definitely hold a more boyish style so from the bottom of my heart, thank you Coco.
