TOKYO, JAPAN

Just last week I had the opportunity to visit the beautiful city of Tokyo, Japan.

When I was about 5 years old, my family hosted a foreign exchange student from Japan. Her name was Misato & I thought she was the absolute coolest. She used to draw me pictures of Hello Kitty and make me origami of all shapes. She was even the one who taught me how to use chopsticks. After she left, she would continue to send us mail and pictures that inspired me to visit Japan one day. Japan has always been my #1 travel destination because of Misato so of course when the opportunity appeared I had to say yes.

Japan was everything I expected and more. It’s a beautiful country with kind people who will go out of their way to help you in any situation. There is so much color and animation everywhere you go! As well as vending machines, they’re everywhere you go as well. The food is yummy and their shopping is the best I’ve ever experienced. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Japan and I hope to visit again someday. If life allowed it I would visit at least once a year.

I’ll be posting more stories & photos from Japan soon!

  1. Did you then visit Misato? I’ve just been to Japan visiting our exchange student we hosted last year 🙂

    1. No! 🙁 We had lost contact within time & I tried getting ahold of her before my visit but unfortunately I wasn’t successful. It would’ve been really cool to see her after 15 long years. I’m so sad I couldn’t find her, would’ve loved to see what she’s up to.

  2. I guess 15 yrs is also a long time. A time before everyone was just on all the social media.
Yes, we got a good insight into the lives of an average japanese family. Got to meet her family and see her again, and had our own guide. Was def. an experience.

      1. It was very small with a lot of stuff. But somehow all organised. Don’t think I would have managed that 🙂
