INJURY RESERVE — LIVE FROM THE DENTIST OFFICE.

Injury Reserve, the coolest thing about Arizona.

Following their last EP, Cooler Colors, Injury Reserve just released their newest album titled Live From The Dentist Office this July. The 11 track project is a solid listen from beginning to end. It’ll make you feel some old school hip hop groove & funk but will even take you through waves of progressive sounds.

Injury Reserve is a group that is rich in all fields. You can find expression throughout their lyrics, production, and even personality. From a certain standpoint, they can be seen as the underdog. A small, local hip hop trio from America’s hell hole. A hot, dry wasteland full of little to no culture. An environment that is represented in “Washed Up.” However, with all their hard work and originality it is extremely simple minded for anyone to see them as just an underdog. They are more than just an opening act, they are a serious show.

I had the opportunity to attend their first full performance of Live From The Dentist Office at The Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix. Much to my expectation, the show did not disappoint. It was great to finally see them in the spotlight. There is so much raw energy in their performances. Watching them is really a witness of live art. Right when I walked into the room, the diverse crowd caught my eye. You weren’t overwhelmed with a specific archetype. Every corner of the room was filled with a different type of personality. This says so much about them as a group & what they can offer. The fact that they can bring in people with different backgrounds shows you that they really have something for everyone.

I definitely recommend to keep a close eye on injury Reserve. You’re going to want to be able to say you heard them first. I truly believe that this group has the strength and creativity to go as far as they want to. It’s one thing to be talented but it’s another thing be refreshing. There are so many people out there who forget that. I constantly see people who are talented but they lack originality so their projects are often overlooked. The best thing you can do in this life is find out who you are & ride that wave; that’s exactly what Injury Reserve is doing. They confidently march to the beat of their own drum. This is something that comes easy for them which is why I feel people gravitate towards them without a second thought. I’m so excited for what they have accomplished so far & I cannot wait to see where they are at this time next year.
