No matter what side of the hotline you’re on, I’m sure this song means something to you. Not only is this song incredibly catchy but it also hits home for anyone that hears it. It’s the ideal formula for any iconic lovesong. Drake originally dropped the single on his SoundCloud but it wasn’t long until the mainstream radio culture ate it up, sending the single to the top of charts. It currently sits on the Billboard at #2 but I’m sure with the release of the video the single will shoot up to #1 in no time. Drake recently talked about Hotline Bling‘s success on his Instagram saying,

I spend my life trying to make waves for the city I am from. No accolades really matter to me other than the fact that I have never had a billboard number one. If I get my first number one during the month of October it will be the biggest moment of my career to date (in my mind) and if you are looking for me on that particular evening I will be passed out in the water slide that connects to our pool. I love you and thank you for these memories. I always love the moment right before it happens more than when it actually happens. So thank you…even if it doesn’t.

Drake sounds pretty confident that Hotline Bling will take the crown & truthfully, I think he has every right to be.

The video is a monochromatic dream full of admirably awkward salsa shakes & shimmies. Even though the video is simple in its’ nature, there is no doubt that the internet will be flooded with memes, gifs, & video remakes. People are also commenting on the similarities of this video compared to Sean Pauls, I’m Still In Love With You. A great video in its’ own right but also a video curated by DirectorX. The same director behind Hotline Bling. So who knows? Maybe the video was created for fan made internet gifs or maybe as a tribute to a classic?

For those of you that have yet to see Champagne Papi simp & salsa, the link to the video is below. Enjoy!
