SWEET ’16.

Here are my goals & resolutions for 2016.

GET INVISALIGN. This is a dead serious goal. It may not seem serious but it is to me. I just want straight teeth, ok?

READ MORE. I would say that I read a lot but most of the time it’s online articles. There’s nothing wrong with that necessarily but I would just like to make the effort in 2016 to pick up more books or magazines.

GIVE BACK. Times are tough, people need help. I want to share happiness & give opportunity to those who need support. I would like to help locally where I can be more involved & on the scene. It would be nice to go overseas to do an extensive stay & help but truthfully I can’t afford that. Plus there are so many people in the US that need help. I’m not really sure how I am going to go about accomplishing this task. I think I would like to organize hauls for specific shelters & volunteer for different organizations.

GET A NEW JOB. lol my job sucks.

LOSE WEIGHT. Ideally I think losing 20lbs is where I want to be. Maybe more or less. Realistically the most important thing about this goal is just to stay fit & healthy. I’m too young to get winded or anything like that. It’s been about a year since I’ve been to the gym. The only real cardio I get is from going to shows & jumping around in mosh pits or sometimes hiking. So yeah, getting to the gym is going to be super hard. Especially since I’m naturally lazy. Anyways, I plan on getting a gym membership & starting out slow. I’ll keep it simple by doing basic cardio & yoga. I love yoga so I’m going to use that as positive reinforcement for this challenge. Once I feel like I’ve got the ball rolling I plan on adding more to my workout routine. I would really like to be able to conquer spin classes one day & majorly sculpt my small booty. I know that it’ll probably take at least two years to get a good sized butt from working out though so that is something I’ll have to be patient with.

TRAVEL. Above all this definitely #1 on my list. In 2015 I got to travel to quite a few places, the biggest one being Tokyo which was a dream come true. So I want to keep that going & continue to travel throughout 2016. Truthfully I would be happy even if I only did one big trip out of the US & a bunch of little trips domestically. My travels in 2015 taught me that if the opportunity arises, just go for it. There were times where I had said “yes” to adventures but I was secretly afraid that it wouldn’t work out. However, it always did. Somehow, someway, it all worked out. I was always on the go & not sure what my next move would be. I was sleeping on couches & doing odd jobs just to get by. Now here I am at the end of 2015 where I can retrospect on a bunch of stories & great memories just because I refused to not have fun ~lolz~. I also learned that traveling doesn’t have to be thousands of miles away. Traveling can be taking an hour long road trip to explore a part of your state that you haven’t seen before. That’s all that traveling is. Going new places, seeing new things, trying new food, & learning new stuff — all of that is a lot closer then you think. They don’t want you to travel.

MAKE SEASONAL GOALS. In order to keep myself in-check I want to make goals every season throughout 2016. People make goals for New Years because it’s a “fresh start”. Well I think that seasons can be considered fresh starts too so why not use it as another reason to get re-inspired like how people feel on New Years? I believe that setting goals each season will also help you accomplish more. With seasonal goals you’re on more of a time crunch because seasons are only 3 months long. So you need to get to work as soon as possible if you want to accomplish your goal before the deadline. These goals can also be smaller goals that aren’t necessarily apart of your New Years resolutions list. Or you can use this method as a target to strengthen the New Years resolutions that you’re failing at. For example it could be like, “Okay I’m doing good in these areas but I haven’t really saved money like I told myself I would. So for the season of Spring I’m going to promise myself to stop spending.” So set your seasonal goals, big or small, & follow through!

GET BETTER AT MAKE-UP. I suck at make-up for the most part & it’s something I want to get better at. In 2015 I advanced my skills a bit but still, it’s an area that I still want to grow in during 2016.

WATCH MORE MOVIES. I feel like I don’t watch enough movies & movies are pretty important.

GROW OUT MY HAIR. In 2014 I actually made the spontaneous decision to go blonde. Going from brunette hair to blonde hair can be quite a process, it takes a serious toll on your hair & on your wallet. Throughout 2015 I continued to bleach my hair a number of times. I even had grey hair & pink hair as well. So as you can see my hair has been through a lot which is why I want to let it rest now. I get bored with my hair very easy so I’ve never had super long hair before because I always end up doing something to it. I want to grow it out as long as I can & see if I can have the patience to grow it out to the middle of back if not longer. Right now it is currently like a balayage color with blonde & a heavy dark brown root which is so much easier to take care of. However I think there is one more color I want to do before I go back to black. It took me a long time to get my hair this light so I want to make sure to use it as much as I can. So I think I’ll be back to black by Spring or maybe Summer.

SAVE MONEY. I’m not necessarily saving up for anything particular or to reach a certain amount but I just think it would be nice to save money. I have a bit of savings right now & I would like to keep adding to it. Money isn’t happiness but I mean, it is nice.

WEAR MORE DRESSES. In 2015 I made it a goal to amp up my wardrobe which I believe I did. However, I’ve always been a bit of a tomboy & definitely opt out for whatever is more comfortable. Well in 2016 I would like to add more feminine pieces to my everyday look. Choosing heels instead of sneakers or wearing a dress instead of shorts. Just challenging myself to step a little bit outside of my comfort zone & try something new. I love being a girl so why not enjoy it to the fullest?

EAT LESS MEAT. I’m Mexican so giving up meat altogether would be impossible; I do not care what you say. I could probably give up white meat but I could never give up red meat. For the last few years I have given up meat for Lent. Each year it gets easier but I can’t deny that I am so excited to have carne asada tacos come Easter Sunday. However, I am well aware of the benefits your body can attain by not eating meat. Not only is it good for your body but for the environment as well. Just to make a single hamburger can use anywhere from 4,000 to 18,000 gallons of water. I believe that God did put animals on Earth to play a role & to fit into the circle of life but this doesn’t mean that we should gorge. An animal’s meat really is a privilege & I think we have lost sight of that. So I want to eat less meat throughout 2016 & pretty much the rest of my life. I would like to eat meat only once a week, at max 2 times a week. With time I would like to cut down to even only twice a month.

KEEP BLOGGING. This was also a goal that I had made for 2015 & as you can see, it’s one I accomplished. I’m super proud of myself & I want to keep this momentum going. I also have made a separate list of goals for my blog to accomplish in 2016 but I’ll keep those to myself just so I can surprise you guys. However, one thing I want to publicly take note of is being able to share my blog more. I’m a bit insecure when it comes to publicly sharing my blog & I need to stop doing that. I should be proud & confident in all of the work I do. So I am definitely promising myself to stop caring & start sharing.
